Abstract

Catfish farming in Rumbai District, Pekanbaru City is one of the agricultural businesses and a source of farm income. Catfish farming is expected to be profitable and prosperous for farmers. This study aims to analyze: farmer characteristics and catfish farming profiles; cultivation techniques, use of production facilities from catfish farming; and total costs , production , income and efficiency of catfish farming. This research was conducted in Rumbai District, Pekanbaru City from July 2021 to December 2022 2 . The method used is survey method. Respondents were selected by census, namely all farmers who cultivate catfish were used as a sample of 10 people. Data analysis used is descriptive qualitative and quantitative methods. The results showed: the average age of farmers is 42 years, education level is 11 years (SMA), experience is 10 years and the number of family dependents is 3 people. The business profile obtained an average number of cages 7 units . The number of seeds sown was 1540 fish/cage. Use of production factors: an average of 7 units of cages with an average area of 7 m2. While the average production is 3770 kg/production period. The cost of production of catfish farming in the Rumbai District of Pekanbaru City was obtained at Rp41,776,171/production period, the use of variable costs of Rp.40,209,200/production period and the use of fixed costs was Rp1,566,971/production period, gross income was obtained at Rp64,090,000/production period, while net income was Rp . Cultivators in Pekanbaru City are profitable and feasible to work on.
