Abstract

Prospective students who will continue their studies at tertiary institutions and the decision to choose a study program will be influenced by many faktors. This study aims to determine the characteristics of students of the Agribusiness Study Program and faktors in student decision making to choose the Agribusiness Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Islamic University of Riau. The population in this study were Agribusiness students at the Faculty of Agriculture, Islamic University of Riau, class of 2021, 114 students, while spending the number of research samples using probability sampling using 53 students. The design of this research was a qualitative descriptive analysis which the data and information obtained from the questionnaires given to the respondents, while analyzing the faktors that determine which students choose agribusiness department is the Likert scale. KMO test and Barlett test were used to analyze faktors. The results of this study found that the faktors that determine student decisions in choosing the Agribusiness study program at the Faculty of Agriculture, Islamic University of Riau include study program quality, motivation and interest, self-efficacy, social environment, and the future. The quality faktor of study program and the future determines students in choosing the Agribusiness study program. This finding was in line with the theory which reveal that the purpose of faktor analysis is to describe the covariance relationships between several underlying but unobserved variables.
