Abstract

Rice plants are plants that have the ability to adapt to all environments from the lowlands to the highlands (200 meters above sea level), in the tropics to the subtropics except for Antarctica (polar), and wet (swamps) to dry (deserts) areas of the fertile to marginal. This study aims to determine the characteristics of farmers and farming profiles, cultivation technology, use of production factors, costs, production, income and efficiency of lowland rice farming of the Logawa variety with the jajar legowo cropping system. This research was carried out for 10 months from March 2021 to December 2021 in Rambah Baru Village, Rambah Samo District, Rokan Hulu Regency, Riau Province. The sampling technique for lowland rice farmers of the logawa variety with the row legowo cropping pattern used a simple random method and a survey method. The number of rice farmers selected was 36 people from 292 farmers in 10 farming groups. Sources of data taken are primary data and secondary data. Based on the results of research conducted 1, it shows that the average area of cultivated land is 0.48 hectares. The average age is 49.03 years (productive age), the average education level of farmers is junior high school, the average number of dependents of farmers is 3 people and the average experience of farmers in farming is 11.55 years. The average production is 1,959.67 Kg/cultivation/MT. The average gross income of rice farming is IDR 9,798,333.33/cultivation/MT. The average cost of rice farming is IDR 4,058,204.86/work/MT. The average net income of rice farming is IDR 5,740,128.47/cultivation/MT. The value of the R/C ratio is 2.32. Thus, the farming of lowland rice varieties with legowo spacing is feasible to be cultivated and continued.
