Abstract

Rokan IV Koto District is one of the areas with the largest rubber plantations in Rokan Hulu Regency. Independent smallholder rubber marketing is carried out by taking samples from several farmers, cooperatives, and wholesalers. The purpose of this research is to analyze the characteristics of rubber farmers, analyze rubber marketing channels, and analyze the structure - behavior - performance (SCP) of the independent smallholder rubber market. The research results show that the age of rubber farmers is still relatively productive, the level of education of farmers tends to be good, they have long farming experience, and farmers have quite large family dependents. There are 2 self-supporting rubber marketing channels in the Rokan IV Koto District. Marketing Channel 1: Farmers - Wholesalers - Factories, and marketing channel 2: Farmers - Village Cooperatives - Wholesalers - Factories. The market share of the 4 major traders is 0.5864 with Kr 58.64% (moderate oligopsony). Meanwhile, village cooperatives obtained a market share of 0.1803 with a Kr of 18.03(low oligopsony). The value of the correlation coefficient between prices at the farmer and factory level is 0.8675, meaning that the price relationship between the factory and rubber farmers is relatively strong. The value of E_t < 1, which is 0.54, means that the market is imperfectly competitive. Judging from market performance. both marketing channels have EP value > 5%, (not efficient). And it is recommended for farmers to use marketing channel 2, marketing their bokar through village cooperatives.
