Abstract

This study entitled Effect of Swallow Manure and NPK 16:16:16 on the Growth and Production of Purple Eggplant (Solanum melongena L.). The purpose of this study was to determine the interaction effect and main effect of swallow droppings and NPK 16:16:16 on the growth and production of purple eggplant (Solanum melongena L.). This research was carried out in the experimental garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Islamic University of Riau, for 4 months from July to October 2022. The design used was a Completely Randomized Factorial Design consisting of two factors. The first factor is the swallow droppings dose (W) with 4 treatment levels, namely 0, 0.5, 1, 1.5 kg per plot and the second factor is the dose of NPK 16:16:16 (N) with 4 treatment levels, namely 0, 10, 20, 30 g per plants to obtain 16 treatment combinations. Parameters observed were plant height, flowering age, harvesting age, number of fruit planted, weight of fruit planted, weight of fruit per fruit, and amount of fruit left over. Data were analyzed by analysis of variance and continued with the honest significant difference test (BNJ) at the 5% level. The results showed that the interaction of swallow droppings and NPK 16:16:16 was significant for the parameters of plant height, flowering age, harvesting age, number of fruits per plant, fruit weight per plant, and the number of fruit residue. The best treatment was a combination of swallow droppings 1.5 kg per plot and NPK 16:16:16 30 g per plant. The main effect of real swallow droppings dose on all parameters. The best treatment is the dose of 1.5 kg swallow droppings per plot. The main effect of NPK 16:16:16 is significant for all parameters. The best treatment was the dose of NPK 16:16:16 30 g per plant.
