Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the interaction and main effect of the composition of the planting medium and POC of cow urine on the growth of red jabon seedlings. The research was carried out at the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Riau Islamic University, Pekanbaru City. This research was conducted from November 2021 to February 2022. This study used a factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD), namely the first factor was the composition of the PMK planting media: ketapang leaf compost: sand (1:1:1), PMK: ketapang leaf compost: sand (2:1:1), PMK: ketapang leaf compost: sand (1:2:1), PMK: ketapang leaf compost: sand (1:1:2), and the second factor is cow urine POC, each of which consists of 4 levels treatment without POC of cow urine, POC of cow urine 75 ml/l, POC of cow urine 150 ml/l, POC of cow urine 225 ml/l. Parameters observed were: increase in plant height, increase in the number of leaves, increase in stem diameter, root volume, root length and leaf area. The research data were analyzed for variance and continued with the 5% BNJ test. The results showed that the interaction effect of the composition of the planting medium and the POC of cow urine gave a significant difference to the leaf area parameter. The best treatment was giving the composition of PMK planting media: ketapang leaf compost: sand (1:2:1) and 150 ml/l POC of cow urine. The main effect of the composition of the planting medium is the significant difference to the parameters of root volume, root length and leaf area. The best treatment was the composition of the PMK planting medium: ketapang leaf compost: sand (1:2:1). The main effect of POC of cow urine gave a significant difference to the parameters of increase in stem diameter, root volume, root length and leaf area. The best treatment is giving POC cow urine 150 ml/l.
