Abstract

The high rate of road users' non-compliance with traffic signs is one of the main factors contributing to the increase in traffic accidents and congestion in Indonesia. According to data from the Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps, in 2023 there were 152,000 traffic accidents resulting in 27,000 fatalities. The issue faced by the Motor Speed Is Peace (MSIP) Community in Pekanbaru is the low level of understanding regarding traffic signs, which poses a potential risk of accidents and traffic violations. To address this, an educational game app was developed with the aim of enhancing members' understanding and awareness of traffic signs, while also serving as an alternative medium to reduce the risk of violations and accidents on the road. The educational game, named RoadWise, consists of four game modes: matching traffic sign names, 3D traffic sign cars, traffic sign image quizzes, and traffic sign name quizzes. The game was developed using the Game Development Life Cycle (GDLC) method with Unity 3D software and is designed for the Android platform. Functional testing through black box testing showed that all 54 test scenarios were successfully executed without errors. Furthermore, pre-test and post-test evaluations on 20 respondents using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test yielded a Z value of -3.833 with Sig. < 0.001, indicating a significant improvement in understanding after using the game.
