Abstract

The majority of students currently feel that they are wrong in choosing a major, this is evidenced in the research of Nurhartanto, A., & Wengrum, T.D. (2021), in the journal "Education on Selection of College Majors Through the Talent Mapping Method", explains that a survey conducted by the Indonesia Career Center Network (ICCN) shows that 87% of Indonesian students feel they are taking the wrong major. Basically it is necessary to have a decision support system which able to recommend majors for students who will graduate from high school. SMK N 1 Rokan IV Koto is a vocational high school located in Rokan Hulu District, Rokan IV Koto, there is no system available that can minimize errors in taking majors, therefore it is necessary to have a decision support system that can recommend majors. This system will provide several recommendations for majors based on the evaluation results of students while at school using the Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) method. This method was successfully applied to the recommendation support system for student, the final results of the selection of majors will be sorted from highest to lowest according to the alternative to be used. The decision support system for recommendations for student majors has been implemented at SMK N 1 Rokan IV Koto using a questionnaire for 20 respondents (students), responses from 20 respondents (students) calculated using a Likert scale showing a result of 84.6% with a very good predicate. Based on these results, a recommendation support system for student majors has been successfully built and successfully implemented at SMK N 1 Rokan IV Koto.
