Abstract
The perpetrators of crimes using sharp weapons in cases of theft with violence can carry out their actions anywhere, seeing the condition of society that is increasingly disobedient to rules and laws. They think that this problem is normal because of social and economic demands. Conditions of security and order in society must be able to be implemented in order to achieve national goals which are characterized by guaranteed security, order and tranquility. As well as an effort to overcome the occurrence of violent crimes that use sharp weapons and disturb the community. Based on the background of the problems described above, the authors determine first what are the factors causing the crime of theft with violence using sharp weapons in the jurisdiction of the Pekanbaru Police? How are the efforts of the Pekanbaru Police in Overcoming the crime of theft by violence using Sharp Weapons in the Legal Area of the Pekanbaru Police? This writing, when viewed from the type of research, sociological legal research by means of a survey, where the author went directly to the research location to collect data and research materials, while in terms of the nature of this research, it is descriptive-analytical in nature, namely providing an overview of how the factors that cause the crime of theft by violence using sharp weapons as well as inhibiting factors and efforts to overcome criminal acts of theft with violence using sharp weapons in the jurisdiction of the Pekanbaru Police. The factors that cause the crime of theft with violence using a sharp weapon in the Legal Area of the Pekanbaru Police include: a. Lack of education; b. People's lifestyle; c. Economy Crysis; d. high unemployment rate; e. Desire for possession of stolen items; f. The environment that triggers crime; g. Low Economic Factors; h. Bad Environmental Factors; i. Factors Weak Law Enforcement. The efforts of the Pekanbaru Police in dealing with the crime of theft with violence using sharp weapons in the Legal Area of the Pekanbaru Police include: a. Countermeasures in a repressive way, an example of police countermeasures is by taking firm action against the perpetrators; b. Handling in a pre-emptive way, for example urging the public to be more vigilant; c. Countermeasures in a preventive way, for example conducting patrols on roads that are prone to crime.
