Abstract

Internet of Things (IoT) is when we connect things that are not operated by humans. Applying technology to waste management is useful for sorting types of waste with a method, tool, and process in utilizing technology in a simple way, so that it is beneficial to humans. Organic Waste is residual material produced from biological materials, so it is easily degraded naturally by microbes. Inorganic waste has the opposite nature to organic waste. This type of waste is generated from materials that do not come from nature (biological materials), but man-made materials or synthetic materials (non-natural waste). The Smart Trash concept has been introduced in many countries, but not all the main aspects of Smart Trash have been implemented. One of the most important aspects is the smart environment. This smart trash prototype and making organic and inorganic Smart Trash prototypes with the internet of things is made using the NodeMCU ESP 8266 microcontroller, proximity sensors as detectors, sorting types of garbage. The smart trash prototype can find out the type of garbage by opening the trash lid automatically and will send a notification to the telegram bot when the trash can is full.
