Abstract
This research aims to design and develop an efficient bandwidth management system to improve the equitable utilization of bandwidth in the UIR Computer Engineering Laboratory. The Queue Tree method is employed as the bandwidth management approach to distribute bandwidth fairly, ensuring that no client competes excessively for bandwidth and each client receives an adequate allocation. Additionally, a filtering layer 7 is implemented to block access to websites unrelated to the practical activities conducted in the Computer Engineering Laboratory, thus reducing bandwidth wastage. The testing phase involves recording the bandwidth obtained by each client and accessing the blocked websites to evaluate the system's performance. During the testing phase, the bandwidth management system and filtering layer 7 are implemented in the UIR Computer Engineering Laboratory. The testing involves recording the bandwidth received by each client, allowing for an evaluation of the bandwidth allocation for each client. Additionally, the testing includes accessing the blocked websites to ensure the system successfully prevents access to irrelevant websites. The test results demonstrate that the bandwidth management system using the Queue Tree method successfully distributes bandwidth evenly in the laboratory, preventing excessive competition among clients and ensuring fair bandwidth allocation. Moreover, the filtering layer 7 effectively blocks access to irrelevant websites, reducing bandwidth wastage. This research contributes to enhancing the efficiency of bandwidth utilization in the UIR Computer Engineering Laboratory. The designed system can serve as a reference for improving bandwidth management in similar laboratory environments, ensuring equitable and efficient bandwidth distribution, as well as blocking irrelevant websites during practical activities.
