Abstract

West Sumatra is one of the provinces in Indonesia that has obstacles in the management of tourist attractions in the region because the information delivery media used are still in the form of banners, booklets, or tourist magazines. This is quite difficult for tourists because they have to spend time visiting the tourism office to get information about tourist attractions. To overcome these problems, a geographic information system was created that presents information about tourist attractions such as location, description, history, entrance ticket prices, and parking fees. The purpose of this research is to build an information system that can facilitate the community in obtaining information about the location of tourist attractions and as a promotional media for tourist attractions in West Sumatra. The system development method used is the waterfall method. This system was built using the Laravel framework with the PHP programming language and MySQL database. The results of black box testing show that the functions and features contained in the system have run well and the results of UAT testing show a percentage score of 89% and can be classified in the very good category. Based on the research that has been done, the system that has been built can help in the promotion and dissemination of information about tourist attractions in West Sumatra.
