Abstract

Riau Islamic University is one of the best campuses in Pekanbaru which of course this attracts students who want to continue their education to university level. What's more, Riau Islamic University already has many departments and provides comfortable facilities for its students. The engineering faculty has 6 departments, namely Urban and Regional Planning Engineering, Geological Engineering, Civil Engineering, Oil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Informatics Engineering. However, with the large number of students and campus activities, the engineering faculty does not yet have enough space to be used as a parking space due to the lack of available land. The purpose of this study is to identify the need for parking space at the Faculty of Engineering, Islamic University of Riau. This study uses a quantitative descriptive method that is used to describe the existing condition of the parking area at the Faculty of Engineering, Islamic University of Riau with the methods of analysis of parking characteristics and analysis of parking capacity which describe the conditions and conditions of parking use at the Faculty of Engineering, Islamic University of Riau. In addition, this research also uses the method of analyzing the need for parking space at the Faculty of Engineering, Islamic University of Riau so that it can find out how much parking space is needed at the Faculty of Engineering, Islamic University of Riau. So as to provide an overview of alternative directions in arranging parking spaces at the Faculty of Engineering, Islamic University of Riau. Based on the results of observations that have been made, it is known that the Faculty of Engineering, Riau Islamic University, seen from the condition of the characteristics of the parking space, has limited parking space due to the fact that the available parking area cannot accommodate the number of existing vehicles, so it uses the road as a parking space. The results of this study obtained the need for parking space for the Faculty of Engineering, Riau Islamic University, namely 1003 SRP for motorbikes, 75 SRP for car parking and 6 SRP for bicycle parking.
