Abstract

Boiler is a vessel or high pressure tank that functions to produce hot steam or steam. The problem that occurs in the boiler is exhaust emissions which are so bad that it makes the environment around the factory polluted. Boiler with CFB (Circulating Fluidized Bed) type operated at PT. Indah Kiat Pulp & Paper Tbk for chemical reaction processes. This study aims to analyze the effect of limestone on the performance and exhaust emissions of boilers. The independent variable is the variation of the speed screw limestone, namely 908 rpm, 1060 rpm, 1211 rpm and 1363 rpm. The research method is to calculate fuel consumption, the amount of heat needed, the heat absorbed by the kitchen, the consumption of combustion air, the amount of heat produced and the efficiency of the boiler. As well as the effect on gas emissions of SO2, NOx, and particulates. The calculation results for boiler fuel consumption with a capacity of 670 tons/hour and speed screw variations are 72,873.51 kg/hour, 70,076.48 kg/hour, 68,515.17 kg/hour, and 66,423.09 kg/hour, respectively. the required heat for the combustion chamber is 279134730 kj/kg, 268443396 kj/kg, 262462440 kj/kg, and 254416592 kj/kg. The heat absorbed in the kitchen is 314052763.75 kJ/hour, 301998795.14 kJ/hour, 295270236.02 kJ/hour and 286254291.74 kJ/hour. Combustion air consumption is 890514.29 kg.ud/kg.bb, 856334.58 kg.ud/kg.bb, 837255.37 kg.ud/kg.bb, and 811090.15 kg.ud/kg.bb. The heat produced is 373303900 Kcal/kg, 374174900 Kcal/kg, 374757800 Kcal/kg and 375782900 Kcal/kg. Boiler efficiency as much as 88.7%, 88.9%, 89.4% and 89.5%. Then the effect on boiler exhaust emissions, the best effect on SO2 gas is 196.65 mg/Nm³. Based on the effect on Nox gas, the best was 66.97 mg/Nm³. Based on the effect on the best particulate content of 7.87 mg/Nm³. Based on the data from these calculations, related to the effect of speed screw limestone variations and boiler exhaust emissions, a speed screw of 1363 rpm is more efficient to use because even though the performance of the boiler has decreased slightly, the boiler exhaust emissions are far below the limits set by government.
