Abstract
Rice is an agricultural product which is the main consumption of the Indonesian people. The quality of rice yields is often unsatisfactory because some of them have broken rice. So as the era progresses and the need for food such as rice is increasing, it requires farmers to use more sophisticated tools in managing rice into rice as a basic need for people in Indonesia. The aims of this study were: 1) How does the variation of the engine speed affect the milling time, 2) How does the variation of the engine speed affect the output of bran and rice, 3) To determine the effect of the variation of the engine speed on the percentage of rice milling. This research method begins with a rice grinding system using the structure of the Yanmar HW 60 AN machine which is a rice grinding machine. On this machine, the rubber roll is removed and then connected to the Yanmar TF85 Diesel engine via a belt. Followed by carrying out several variations of the diesel engine rotation which include 1200 rpm, 1384 rpm, 1600 rpm, 1797 rpm, 1927 rpm. However, based on data collection, the mill produced at 1600 rpm is more efficient compared to rpm below 1600 rpm or even more than 1600 rpm.
