Abstract

With the enactment of Law Number 11 of 2012 which strengthens the existence of correctional institutions in the judicial process. Correctional institutions are not only an institution through correctional supervisors, but their job is to carry out social research on children who are involved in criminal cases in accordance with the provisions of the juvenile justice law. Through the Law on the Juvenile Criminal Justice System, Bapas becomes an important factor in the process of resolving crimes or crimes involving children starting with assisting children in the investigation process on the part of the police. From the background above, the authors formulate the main issues including: First, What is the Role of the Pekanbaru Class II Correctional Center in Assisting Children in Conflict with the Law in the Investigation Process?, Second, Obstacles in the Process of Assisting Children in Conflict with the Law in the Investigation Process ?. Judging from its type, this research can be classified into Empirical Sociological research, namely research conducted by survey method, namely research directly to the research location using data collection tools in the form of interviews. While the nature of this research is descriptive, namely providing a clear and detailed picture of the problems that are the subject of research. After going through the process of data collection and data processing, then the data is analyzed based on qualitative methods, then after the data is analyzed, inductive conclusions are formulated, namely drawing conclusions from the specific to the general. From the results of the study it can be concluded that first, the role of the Pekanbaru Class II Correctional Center in Providing Assistance to Children in Conflict with the Law in the Investigation Process has been carried out by the Pekanbaru Class II Prison. Bapas Klas II Pekanbaru began to provide assistance to criminal acts committed by children during the investigation process carried out by the police to provide protection and legal assistance for children in conflict with the law. Second, Obstacles in the Assistance Process for Children in Conflict with the Law. The obstacles that occur in the process of assisting children in conflict with the law consist of 2 things; internal barriers which include; Lack of Human Resources owned by the Pekanbaru Class II Bapas, Facilities and Infrastructure owned by the Pekanbaru Class II Bapas, Coordination of Law Enforcement Officials with the Bapas while external obstacles include; Legal substance, culture in society.
