Abstract

his study aims to determine the Changes in Online Game User Behavior in Children in Bangun Rejo II Village, Rokan Hilir Regency. The method in this study uses a qualitative approach method. Informants in the study were children who use online games with an age range of 9-12 years and parents who have children who use online games. The data collection techniques used in this study were observation, interviews and documentation. Based on the results of observations and interviews that researchers have conducted with children who use online games and their parents, it can be seen online games affect children's communication behavior, such as increased coarse language, lack of social interaction and changes in attitudes when communicating with peers and parents. Interactions in online games also affect children's thinking, form self-identity, and adjust behavior in the child's social environment. This study is in line with the Symbolic Interaction Theory developed by George Herbert Mead with three components, namely: Thought (Thought), Self (Self) and Society (Society).
