Abstract

he current digital era offers many opportunities for students to express themselves and create through various new media platforms, one of which is podcasting. Podcasts serve as an alternative medium that not only delivers information but also provides a space for students to channel their creativity and shape their identity as content creators. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques include observation, in-depth interviews with research subjects, and documentation. Data analysis consists of three stages: data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification. The subjects in this study are student podcasters in Pekanbaru City, both those who create podcasts individually and those involved in campus organizations such as Podcast Kopsus and Podcast Tarbiyah Talk. The results show that podcasts play an important role as a medium for digital creativity, enabling students to build their identity through content relevant to their lives. Podcasts also serve as a platform for developing communication skills, critical thinking, and media production abilities. Student involvement in podcast production also opens opportunities for collaboration and expands social networking within the campus environment. However, this creative process also faces various challenges, such as technical limitations, difficulties in generating new ideas, and time constraints amid academic activities. Overall, the findings indicate that podcasts function not only as a source of entertainment but also as a strategic medium for students to sharpen creativity, shape character, and prepare themselves as adaptive content creators in the era of new media.
