Abstract

This study is to find out how the culture of the Sasak Tribe is carried out with the Malay Tribe in Tagaraja Village, Kateman District, Indragiri Hilir Regency. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach that aims to describe the process and stages carried out in cultural adaptation, in accordance with the theory of cultural adaptation, namely cultural adaptation and cross-cultural adaptation. Observation, interview and documentation data collection techniques to obtain relevant results. The informants in this study are the Sasak and Malay tribes. The results of this study show that the cultural adaptation between the Sasak Tribe and the Malay Tribe in Tagaraja can be said to be successful. This success is marked by the establishment of harmonious social relations between the two ethnic groups, where each party shows mutual respect and acceptance of existing cultural differences. Interactions built through good communication, participation in social activities, and involvement in various aspects of life together show that the adaptation process is not only one-way, but also reciprocal and inclusive. In addition, the occurrence of cultural integration such as the adoption of customs, traditions, and daily practices of each tribe also shows a form of mixing that enriches social and cultural values in society.
