Abstract
Cyberbullying is a negative behavior that is done intentionally in digital spaces and is considered one of the easiest forms of cybercrime. Some studies suggest that selfesteem may correlate with cyberbullying behavior. This study aims to examine the correlation between self-esteem and the tendency to engage in cyberbullying among active students at the Islamic University of Riau. This research used a quantitative correlational method with 383 students from different faculties, selected through a stratified non-proportional sampling technique. Data were collected using a cyberbullying scale and a self-esteem scale. Because the data were not normally distributed, the Spearman rho test was used. The result showed a significant negative correlation (r = -0.618, p < 0.05), which means that lower self-esteem is related to a higher tendency to engage in cyberbullying. These findings show that self-esteem plays an important role in understanding cyberbullying behavior among university students.
