Abstract

elf-disclosure is when someone reveals information about themselves to others with the aim of gaining support or social control. The shared information is accurate according to the facts, but others have not yet been aware of it. A person intentionally provides information about themselves and the individuals who read or hear it must believe in that information. The purpose of this study is to understand self-disclosure among Generation Z who use second Instagram accounts. This research employs qualitative research with a case study approach and uses anecdotal record observations. The subjects of this study are 4 active users of second accounts and Generation Z. The informant selection technique used is purposive sampling based on characteristics. The research data was obtained through interviews, observations, and documentation. This study utilizes the disclosure theory of Joseph Luft and Harry Ingham as well as Wheeless. The research results show that all four informants actively use second accounts for selfdisclosure because they feel free to express themselves on the second account.
