Abstract

Mothers of children with special needs face complex challenges in raising and caring for their children. With these various demands, it can have an impact on their psychological conditions, such as anxiety, stress, and depression. The purpose of this was to determine the relationship between tawakal and resilience in mothers of children with special needs in Pekanbaru. This study involved 162 mothers of children with special needs in Pekanbaru, who were selected using a simple random sampling technique. This study employed a quantitative method, where the measuring instrument used is the tawakal scale compiled by Sartika and Kurniawan (2015) and the resilience scale compiled by Smith et al. (2008). Based on the results of the Spearman Rank Order correlation test, a correlation coefficient (r) of 0.442 was obtained with a significance value of 0.000 (p<0.05). This shows that there is significant positive correlation between tawakal and resilience in mothers of children with special needs in Pekanbaru. The higher a mother's tawakal the higher her resilience, and conversely, the lower mother’s tawakal, the lower her resilience.
