Abstract
This study aims to develop and test the initial validity of a patience scale based on an Islamic psychology perspective. Patience is one of the main values in Islamic teachings that has an important influence on mental health and individual behavior. However, psychometric measurements of patience in the context of Islamic psychology are still limited. This study uses a quantitative approach with a scale development method based on the concept of patience in Islamic Psychology. The concept of patience refers to the results of Hidayat's (2024) research using a grounded theory approach. The stages in this study include writing items based on theoretical findings, as well as testing the validity and reliability of the developed scale. The study population was 1098 psychology students at the Islamic University of Riau who were Muslim. The sample consisted of 320 (58 males and 262 females) using Proposive sampling with a non-probability sampling method with a 5% error rate. The analysis was carried out using the confirmatory factor (CFA) technique processed using smartPLS 3.0 M3 software. The results of the analysis show that the patience scale consists of two categories, namely voluntary patience and patience accepting fate, all of which have good construct validity and reliability. This scale can be used to examine patience in the context of people who are Muslim.
