Abstract

The phenomenon of celebrity worship among early adult K-pop fans has become an intriguing topic of interest, given the high level of emotional attachment that develops between fans and their idols. K-pop fans often idolize their celebrities intensely, which can influence their perspectives on various aspects of life, including mate selection. This study was conducted to explore the relationship between celebrity worship and mate selection preferences among early adult K-pop fans in Pekanbaru. The study involved 255 respondents aged 18-25, with a quantitative approach using PLS-SEM (Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling) analysis. The results revealed a significant relationship between celebrity worship and mate selection preferences, with a t-statistic value of 202.662 and a p-value of 0.000. This indicates that the higher the level of celebrity worship, the stronger its influence on preferences for selecting a partner with characteristics similar to their idol, especially in terms of personality and moral values.
