Abstract

Early adulthood is a critical transitional phase often marked by various academic and emotional demands, especially for final-year university students. One factor that can influence a student's ability to cope with such pressures is resilience. Resilience serves as a strength to adapt to difficult situations, including traumatic childhood experiences, commonly referred to as Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE). ACE encompasses forms of abuse, neglect, and family dysfunction experienced before the age of 18. The aim of this study is to determine the influence of Adverse Childhood Experience (ACE) on the resilience of students in the Faculty of Psychology at the Islamic University of Riau. The data collection method used in this study involved the Adverse Childhood Experience (ACE) scale adapted by Rahapsari et al. (2021), which consists of 29 items, and the CD-RISC 25 resilience scale adapted by Prawita & Heryadi (2023), which consists of 25 items. The sample of this study consisted of 101 respondents from the 2021 and 2022 Psychology student cohorts, selected using purposive sampling. The analysis method employed in this research was simple linear regression analysis. The statistical results showed a significant negative influence between Adverse Childhood Experience (ACE) and resilience.
