Abstract
Basketball has great potential as a medium for character education, especially for the younger generation. This community service program aims to teach important values such as discipline, cooperation and sportsmanship through playing basketball. Discipline in basketball teaches players to obey the rules of the game, follow the coach's instructions, and commit to regular practice. Collaboration on a basketball team helps players appreciate each other's roles, communicate effectively, and support each other to achieve common goals. Sportsmanship in basketball teaches players to respect opponents, referees, and teammates, and accept defeat and victory with a good attitude. This program is designed to provide training and mentoring to Mahameru Pekanbaru's 14 women's basketball athletes, integrating character values in every training session and match. Through this approach, it is hoped that a young generation can be created that is not only physically healthy but also has strong character and noble morals. With the commitment and cooperation of all parties, it is hoped that this program can inspire other communities to adopt a similar approach in efforts to build national character through sport. The results of this program show significant improvements in discipline, cooperation, and sportsmanship among participants, which contribute positively to character formation.
