Abstract
This study aims to determine the level of self-acceptance among inmates at the Class 1 Pekanbaru Detention Center. The approach used was descriptive qualitative, focusing on the subjective meaning of inmates' experiences during their detention. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews with three informants and analyzed using qualitative techniques. The results showed that two of the three informants demonstrated indicators of self-acceptance, such as responsibility for their actions, strong convictions, and awareness of their limitations. However, a sense of equality and adjustment was not fully evident in all informants. Factors supporting self-acceptance include life experiences, religious activities, and positive social relationships within the detention center. This study concludes that self-acceptance among inmates is a gradual process influenced by the individual's psychosocial conditions and reflective abilities. These results are expected to inform the development of psychological development programs in correctional settings.
