Abstract
Students who are writing their theses will always encounter various difficulties, both from internal and external factors. One of the internal factors that makes it difficult to write a thesis is attention control. The purpose of this study was to determine the description of Attention Control in Students Who Are Working on Their Theses. The population to be studied was 12,154 students at the Islamic University of Riau who were working on their theses. The number of samples obtained was 388 students using a cluster sampling technique. The Attention Control Scale (ACS) is a widely used self-report measure intended to assess overall ability in attention control. Using the scale from Berry and Reed (2002) with a total of 20 items. Based on the results of the study, it is known that Based on the results of the study, the level of Attention Control in students at the Islamic University of Riau is in the very high category with a total of 21 people (5.4%), the high category with a total of 143 people (36.6%), the moderate category with a total of 203 people (51.9%), the low category with a total of 22 people (5.6%) and those in the very low category amounted to 2 people (0.5%). When viewed based on the majority number, the most respondents were female, namely 245 people with the largest number in the moderate category. Based on the class, the majority of respondents were from the class of 2021 with the largest number in the moderate category. Based on the faculty, the majority were in the faculty of engineering with the largest number in the moderate category.
