Abstract
The family is the primary environment for adolescent psychological development. Disharmony, such as divorce, can create a broken home environment that negatively impacts children's emotions, one of which is loneliness. Data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded 447,743 divorce cases in Indonesia in 2024, the majority of which were caused by constant fighting. This figure indicates an increasing number of children at risk of experiencing psychological disorders due to divorce. This study aims to describe the experiences of loneliness among adolescents from broken homes, including the causes, forms of experience, psychological impacts, and coping strategies. The research approach was qualitative with descriptive methods. Three informants were selected purposively based on the criteria of adolescents from broken homes. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and non-participant observation, then analyzed through reduction, presentation, and drawing conclusions using triangulation. The results showed that all informants experienced loneliness since their parents' divorce, characterized by negative emotions such as sadness, anger, disappointment, and feelings of abandonment. Impacts ranged from withdrawal to juvenile delinquency. Coping strategies included finding activities, socializing, and gradually accepting the situation. The study concluded that loneliness in adolescents from broken homes is related to a lack of emotional support from the family. Psychological intervention and ongoing social support are needed so that adolescents can adapt positively.
