Abstract
This study aims to describe self-regulated learning among first-year Psychology students in Pekanbaru. Self-regulated learning is an individual's ability to actively design, monitor, and evaluate their own learning process through metacognitive, motivational, and behavioral aspects. This study used a quantitative descriptive approach with a sample of 231 students from four universities with Psychology study programs in Pekanbaru. The instrument used was a self-regulated learning scale that has been tested for its validity and reliability. The results showed that most students were in the moderate category in terms of self-regulated learning (40.7%), with behavioral aspects as the most prominent component (50.6%). These findings indicate that students' independent learning behavior is more influenced by internal individual factors than demographic factors. This study recommends a structured self-learning strategy training program to support the improvement of students' academic independence, especially during the initial transition period in higher education.
