Abstract

This study aims to analyze the distribution of soil and groundwater contamination caused by hazardous and toxic waste (B3) at Warehouse “X” in Sungguminasa, Gowa Regency, South Sulawesi. The methods used include geoelectrical resistivity, groundwater geochemical analysis, and soil geochemical analysis. The geoelectrical data indicate the presence of transformer oil contamination at depths from less than 1 meter to 3 meters, characterized by low resistivity values (< 33.3 Ωm). Groundwater quality tests revealed iron (Fe) concentrations exceeding standard thresholds at several stations: station 1 (0.638 mg/l), station 2 (0.375 mg/l), station 3 (0.481 mg/l), and station 5 (0.453 mg/l). Manganese (Mn) levels also surpassed limits at station 1 (0.14 mg/l). Soil geochemical analysis showed barium (Ba) concentrations exceeding quality limits at point PLN2, with 120 mg/l at a depth of 0–0.5 cm and 105.4 mg/l at 0.5–100 cm. Elevated concentrations of heavy metal lead (Pb) were found across almost all soil sampling points. At PLN1, Pb was measured at 0.574 mg/l (0–0.5 cm) and 0.560 mg/l (0.5–100 cm). Higher levels were recorded at PLN2, with 1.23 mg/l (0–0.5 cm) and 1.07 mg/l (0.5–100 cm). At PLN3, Pb concentrations reached 0.645 mg/l (0–0.5 cm) and 0.577 mg/l (0.5–100 cm). The presence of high Pb concentrations indicates substantial contamination that may pose risks to environmental and public health around the study area.
