Abstract

The impact of progress in all areas of national life is currently inevitable and rightfully so. The consequences are felt in almost all countries, especially in developed and developing countries. The speed of technological development is followed by the economic development of its people. There are cases of traffic violations on the highway by road users which tend to result in accidents, the perceived disorder of road users is increasing. Traffic violations that often occur are violations of traffic signs and traffic lights, such as prohibitions on stopping and parking in certain places, running red lights and others. As for the main problems in this study: 1) How is law enforcement against perpetrators of violations of traffic rules at the Karimun Police? 2) What are the obstacles in law enforcement against perpetrators of traffic violations at the Karimun Police? The research method used in this research is Observational Research (field research) using the data collection tool method, namely by conducting question and answer interviews. This study also uses a survey method that is descriptive analysis, namely by examining the existing data directly and supported by primary data and secondary data. The results of his research are that traffic is a means for motorists to carry out activities from one place to another, in traffic, of course, traffic violations often occur. Traffic violations are committed by people who are less aware of the dangers they will cause. However, in this case law enforcement officials have acted by taking speeding tickets and imposing sanctions on traffic violators, sanctions that have been stipulated by Law Number 22 of 2009 concerning Road Traffic and Transportation. At the Karimun Police, the law and sanctions have been enacted in law enforcement for traffic violations. However, there are still obstacles that occur, namely the disobedience of the drivers and the occurrence of chases when following up on the perpetrators of violations, the obstacle is the lack of human awareness of the applicable law so that it is not orderly and does not comply with existing rules.
