Abstract

This study aims to find out and analyze the implementation of halal tourism development policies in Pekanbaru City, Riau Province and what are the obstacles to the implementation of halal tourism development policies in Pekanbaru City, Riau Province. This study uses a qualitative method with a case study approach as a research strategy. The research infoman is 7 people. The results of the study showed that overall it could not run optimally, effectively and efficiently. This can be seen from the low commitment of all parties to implement this policy, especially business actors who do not run their business in accordance with Islamic sharia, as well as the lack of many restaurants and souvenir shops that have been halal certified. In addition, with the limited facilities and infrastructure to support halal tourism, the halal tourism policy in Pekanbaru City has not been able to attract the interest of the public to come to Pekanbaru City for tourism. The obstacles to the implementation of halal tourism development policies in Pekanbaru City, Riau Province include: a. Lack of socialization of halal tourism in Pekanbaru City. b. The low commitment of the leadership to support the development of halal tourism. c. Lack of community participation in halal tourism management. d. Low resources for the implementation of halal tourism policies. e. Lack of facilities and infrastructure to support halal tourism policies
