Abstract

conducted research titled "Biology and Investation Attack of Carea sp. on Eucalyptus pellita and the Potential Control Using Metarhizium sp. & Beauveria sp." The objective of this research is to study the biology of Carea sp. and the investation attack and intensity of Carea sp. on Eucalyptus pellita, to determine the efficacy of several isolates of Metarhizium sp. and Beauveria sp. as biological control agents (BCAs) to controlling Carea sp. both in the laboratory and in the field. The research was conducted in the Plant Protection laboratory, Asia Pulp & Paper Forestry R&D, Perawang- Riau, on a clone EPXXAA of six-month-old Eucalyptus plantation, over a period of 6 months. This study consisted of 4 stages: 1) field survey and collection of Carea sp., 2) rejuvenation and propagation of Metarhizium sp. & Beauveria sp. isolates, 3) testing the concentration of Metarhizium sp. & Beauveria sp. in the laboratory, and 4) testing the concentration of Metarhizium sp. & Beauveria sp. in the field. This research showed that the pest attacking on particular clone of E. pellita is Carea angulata, with an investation attack of 70% and intensity attack of 100% on 6-month-old plants. The results of the concentration tests in the laboratory showed a significant difference (p<0.05) in C. angulata mortality, with the highest mortality observed in the consortium treatment (MetaF-2+MT003+Bv715+Bv725) at a concentration of 5 g/L, with mortality rates of 30.0%, 60.0%, 90.0%, and 100.0% at one days after application (daa), 2 daa, 3 daa, and 4 daa, respectively. The results of concentration tests in the field showed no significant effect in C. angulata mortality compared to the control.
