Abstract

The phenomenon of domestic violence cases has increased in quality and quantity. The term violence is used to describe behavior, both overt (open) and covert (closed), offensive (attacking), and defensive (defensive) which is accompanied by the use of force on others. The purpose of this thesis research is to examine in more depth the factors causing domestic violence committed by wives against husbands in the jurisdiction of the Pekanbaru Police and what efforts have been made to overcome domestic violence committed by wives against husbands in the jurisdiction of the Pekanbaru Police. The method in this research is an empirical legal research method, namely research conducted by going directly to the field to obtain information and data through interviews. While the nature of the research is descriptive analytical, namely this research presents a clear, detailed and systematic picture of the problems to be studied. The results of the study, First, the factors causing domestic violence committed by wives against husbands in the jurisdiction of the Pekanbaru Police are that domestic violence (KDRT) committed by wives against husbands can be influenced by various factors, including psychological, economic, social, and cultural factors. Second, Obstacles in investigating domestic violence cases (KDRT) committed by wives against husbands in the Pekanbaru Police area include minimal reporting by victims due to shame, economic dependence, and fear of social stigma. In addition, difficulties in collecting physical and psychological evidence, low public legal awareness, and the unpreparedness of law enforcement officers in handling KDRT cases with women as perpetrators have worsened the investigation process. These factors require serious attention, including increasing the capacity of officers and educating the public.
