Abstract
The research titled "The Effect of Scion Soaking in Various Plant Extracts on the Growth of Top Grafting in Several Durian Seedling Varieties (Durio zibethinus)" was conducted at the Padang Marpoyan Horticultural Parent Seed Center, Pekanbaru, Riau Province, from August to November 2024. This study aimed to determine the interaction effects of various plant extracts and durian varieties on the growth of grafted durian seedlings. A factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) was used, consisting of two factors: types of plant extracts (control, mung bean sprout extract, coconut water, shallot extract, and IAA) and durian varieties (Si Jantung Kampar, Matahari, Kromo Banyumas, and Namlung Petaling-06), resulting in 20 treatment combinations with 3 replications, totaling 60 experimental units. Observed parameters included grafting success rate, number of leaves, maximum leaf area, net assimilation rate (NAR), and relative growth rate (RGR), with data analyzed using ANOVA and HSD at a 5% significance level. The interaction between plant extracts and varieties significantly affected the number of leaves, maximum leaf area, NAR, and RGR. The best treatment for number of leaves was IAA with Namlung Petaling-06 (A4V4), for maximum leaf area were shallot extract with Si Jantung Kampar (A3V1) and coconut water with Kromo Banyumas (A2V3), while the best NAR and RGR during 60–70 DAG was coconut water with Kromo Banyumas (A2V3), during 70–80 DAG and 80–90 DAG was coconut water with Namlung Petaling-06 (A2V4), except for RGR during 80–90 DAG which was best in the control treatment with Si Jantung Kampar (A0V1). The main effect of plant extract types significantly influenced all observed parameters, with coconut water (A2) performing best. Similarly, the durian variety had a significant effect, where Namlung Petaling-06 (V4), Kromo Banyumas (V3), and Si Jantung Kampar (V1) were superior for number of leaves; Kromo Banyumas (V3) for maximum leaf area and NAR during 60–70 DAG; Namlung Petaling-06 (V4) and Matahari (V2) during 70–80 DAG; and Namlung Petaling-06 (V4) for 80–90 DAG. For RGR, Kromo Banyumas (V3) was best during 60–70 DAG, Namlung Petaling-06 (V4) and Matahari (V2) during 70–80 DAG, and Namlung Petaling-06 (V4) with Si Jantung Kampar (V1) during 80–90 DAG.
