Abstract

The problem of vertical mobility of gas entering the productive zone is what we know as Gas coning. This gas coning problem often occurs as a result of the actual production rate that exceeds the critical production rate, namely the production rate allowed by a well to produce without coning. Therefore, excessive exploitation of a production well will result in the flow pressure gradient that the well has that will exceed the gravitational force acting on the well. This will result in a breakthrough of the productive zone by Gas. The purpose of this research is to evaluate the perforation interval for the critical rate of production. In this thesis, the researcher used a case study on a production well in which the well experienced gas coning problems and did not use an artificial lift. so that at an interval of 9 ft it can produce an optimum production rate of 405.6 STB/day.
