Abstract

A common material used as a filler in bending pavement mixtures is rock ash, where the supply is limited and the price is quite expensive. Therefore, there is a need for research using other alternative materials as a substitute for fillers, namely PCC cement, the reason for using PCC cement is one way to reduce the need for natural aggregates, easy to obtain and the price is relatively cheap compared to rock ash. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of using PCC cement Filler in the AC – WC mixture. This research was conducted using the 2018 Highways Specification and using the Marshall Test method. The percentage of using PCC cement Filler is 0%, 30%, 50%, 70%, 100%. Based on the results of the study, the optimum asphalt content was obtained which was 6.8%, the greater the mixture of PCC cement Filler composition, the VMA and VIM values were smaller, while the VFA value was even greater. VMA, VIM and VFA values still meet the requirements of the 2018 Highways Specification. The Stability Value in the variation of 0%, 30%, 50% decreased from 2307.18 kg – 1267.91 kg, but in the variation of 70% to 100% increased from 1371.84 kg – 1392.62 kg all entered the requirements of the 2018 Highways Specification. In the flow value at a variation of 0%, 30% and 50% experienced an increase from 3.2 mm – 4.7 mm to exceed the requirements of the 2018 Highways Specification, but at a variation of 70% to 100% decreased from 3.5 mm – 3.4 mm. on All Filler variations used, only in variations of 0%, 30%, 70%, 100% that meet the requirements of the 2018 Highways Specification. As for the maximum variation of the PCC cement Filler mixture, it was obtained at a variation of 30% with a VMA value of 19.81%, VIM of 4.51%, VFA of 77.86%, Stability of 1683.62 kg and Flow 3.3 mm.
