Abstract

Padang Kunik Village is one of the villages that has rice fields in Kuantan Singingi Regency. Padang Kunik Village, Kuantan Singingi Regency has an area of 200 hectares. There are 52 hectares of rice fields and 26 hectares of irrigated rice fields. Farmers in Padang Kunik village only rely on pure rainwater making it difficult to cultivate the land due to the limited amount of water during the growing season and the land cannot be irrigated evenly. This study aims to identify existing conditions and analyse the magnitude of the difference between water demand and water availability in the irrigation area of Padang Kunik Village, Kuantan Singingi Regency. The stages in analysing the water balance are analysing evapotranspiration using the Penman method. Some factors that affect irrigation water needs are consumptive use (ETc), percolation (P), land preparation water needs (IR), water layer replacement (WLR), effective rainfall (Re), and rice field water needs (NFR). Analysing water availability using the simple water balance method. Based on the analysis of water availability in Padang Kunik Village irrigation is smaller than the need for irrigation water. Surplus months occur in April period 2, August period 2, September period 2, October period 1 and 2, November period 1 and 2, January period 2, February period 1 and 2. While the deficit occurs in March period 1 and 2, April period 1, May period 1 and 2, June period 1 and 2, July period 1 and 2, August period 1, September period 1, December period 1 and 2, January period 1. It can be interpreted that the water balance is deficit because the available water discharge is less than the required water discharge value. The amount of water deficit is -13941.49 m3
