Abstract

Based on observations, 80 percent of land use at the Faculty of Engineering, Islamic University of Riau is dominated by areas that are impermeable in the form of roofs and paving block pavements, causing a decrease in infiltration capacity. When there is rain with high intensity and long duration, it will increase surface runoff and cause inundation. As a result, in the area of Building A there was an inundation of approximately 4 cm high, while in the area of Building B there was an inundation of approximately 8 cm. The purpose of this study was to determine the application of the Zero Run Off concept in reducing runoff, and to determine the amount of runoff that can be reduced in the application of the Zero Run Off concept in the area of Building A and Building B, Faculty of Engineering, Islamic University of Riau. The research method used is hydrological analysis, analysis of existing runoff conditions, and planning of three scenarios of the Zero Run Off (ZRO) concept with a combination of Rainwater Storage (PAH), Infiltration Wells, and Rain Parks technologies. The results obtained are that the area of Building A and Building B produces runoff discharge of 0.0662 m3/s. ZRO 1 scenario produces a reduction discharge of 0.0465 m3/s or 70.2%, ZRO 2 scenario produces a reduction of 0.0395 m3/s or 59.7%, and ZRO 3 scenario produces a reduction discharge of 0.0627 m3/s or 94.7% of the total overflow discharge. ZRO 3 scenario in the form of a combination of 56 units of PAHs, 10 units of infiltration wells, and 1,476.24 m2 Rain Gardens can reduce runoff caused by rainwater by 94.7% of the runoff discharge of 0.0662 m3/s, while the rest 5.3% or close to 0% (Zero Run Off) overflow into the drainage canal.
