Abstract
Concrete is a combination or mixture of Portland cement or hydraulic cement, coarse aggregate, fine aggregate, and water without any other additives (SNI-2847-2019). Based on 2021 data, Riau Province has approximately 2,806,349 hectares of oil palm plantations out of 8,702,400 hectares of Riau Province. This research aims to utilize the potential resources of the region by utilizing Palm Oil waste in the form of Palm Oil Shells. This research uses cylinder samples. The percentage of Palm Kernel Shells (PKS) used as a substitute for coarse aggregate is 0%, 5%, 15%, and 25%. The method used for calculating the concrete mixture (mix design) is based on SNI 03-2834-2000. Concrete testing is carried out at the age of 28 days. Based on the results of research and discussion, the compressive strength with a percentage of 0%, 5%, 15%, 25% is from 32.6 Mpa, 31.5 Mpa, 30.59 Mpa, 27.8 Mpa. From these results, it can be seen that the effect of replacing Palm Kernel Shells (CKS) by replacing some of the coarse aggregate causes the compressive strength of concrete to decrease. It can be concluded that the use of Palm Kernel Shells (CKS) as a substitute for coarse aggregate cannot be used in percentages of 5%, 15% and 25% for a plan compressive strength of 32 Mpa.
