Abstract

Pekanbaru City as the provincial capital is a large and densely populated city in Indonesia. To become a better city, the Pekanbaru city government continues to make efforts to develop city facilities and infrastructure. One of the developments carried out in the city of Pekanbaru is the construction of a Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP). The WWTP construction was carried out on several roads in the city of Pekanbaru so that it had an impact on traffic flow. This research was conducted to determine the traffic impact caused by one of the excavations in the WWTP project which is located on Jalan Amad Yani, Pekanbaru City. This study used a quantitative method with direct surveys in the field to obtain the necessary data such as traffic volume, intersection geometry and other data which were processed and analyzed using the 1997 Indonesian Highway Capacity Manual (MKJI). The results of the analysis of the performance of the intersection at the existing unsignalized intersection of Pasar Bawah, Riau which was carried out on 3 (three) busy days (Monday, Tuesday and Friday), and 1 (one) non-busy day (Sunday) with 3 (three) sessions, namely Morning , afternoon and evening with a traffic volume value of 2360 pcu/hour and a degree of saturation of 0.82 which indicates that the traffic is quite dense. Analysis of the impact of the WWTP project on traffic at Simpang Empat Pasar Bawah, namely increasing traffic volume and causing congestion. Implementation of alternative handling carried out to optimize the performance of the Pasar Bawah unsignaled intersection, Pekanbaru City, Riau is Alternative I (minimizing side resistance from high to low). The degree of saturation obtained is DS = 0.73. So the results meet the target. Alternative II (doing an open and close system at the intersection of four markets down), the results obtained have met the target, namely DS <0.75.
