Abstract
The research entitled Application Test of Coconut Shell Biochar and Organic NPK on the Growth and Production of Shallots (Allium ascalonicum L.) has been conducted at the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Riau Islamic University, Jalan Air Dingin, Air Dingin Village, Bukit Raya District, Pekanbaru City for 3 months from February to April 2024. This study aims to determine the interaction effect and the main application of coconut shell biochar and organic NPK on the growth and production of shallots. This study used a Completely Randomised Factorial Design with two factors. The first factor is coconut shell biochar consisting of 4 levels, namely 0; 0.5; 1; 1.5 kg per plot. The second factor is organic NPK consisting of 4 levels, namely 0, 25, 50, 75 g per plot. So that there were 16 treatment combinations with 3 replications, so there were 48 experimental units. Each experimental unit consisted of 25 plants and 5 plants as samples so that the total plants were 1,200 plants. The parameters observed were soil pH, plant height, relative growth rate (LPR), number of tillers per clump, harvest age, number of tubers per clump, wet tuber weight per clump, dry tuber weight per clump, tuber weight shrinkage, tuber diameter. Observation data were analysed for variance and continued with the BNJ test at the 5% level. Based on the results showed that the interaction effect of coconut shell biochar and organic NPK was significantly different on all parameters. The best treatment was the dose of coconut shell biochar 1.5 kg per plot and organic NPK 75 g per plot. The main effect of coconut shell biochar significantly influenced all observation parameters with the best treatment of coconut shell biochar dose of 1.5 kg per plot. The main effect of organic NPK significantly influenced all observation parameters with the best treatment of organic NPK dose of 75 g per plot.
