Abstract

The road condition survey is the firt step in efforts to deal with road damage. Proper handling of road damage requires an accurate survey of road conditions. This study aims to determine the type of damage that occurs in the pavement layer, determine the level of road damage with the IRI and SDI methods and compare the results of the analysis values of the IRI and SDI methods on the Bangkinang - Petapahan cross road section. The methods used in this research are International Roughness Index (IRI) and Surface Distress Index (SDI). IRI data is obtained from surveys using NAASRA tools while SDI data is obtained from surveys conducted manually. The types of damage that exist on the Bangkinang - Petapahan road section include Algator Cracking, Bleeding, Block Cracking, Corrugation, Edge Cracking, Joint Reflec Cracking, Patching, Polised Agregat, Pothole, Shoving, and Weathering/Raveling. The results showed that the percentage of unevenness index with the IRI method was 7% in good condition, 56% in moderate damage, 33% in light damage and 4% in heavy damage. In the SDI method, the percentage of road damage is 48% in good condition, 30% in moderate damage,18% in light damage, and 4% in heavy damage. The IRI method assessment obtained an average value of 7.139 with moderate conditions, and the SDI method obtained an average value of 66.944 in moderate conditions. So it can be councluded that there are similarities in the damage conditions between the method and the SDI method. Keywords: IRI, SDI, Road Condition.
