Abstract

The background of the study is the students’ participation in learning Fiqh in grade VIII at MTs Nurul Islam Bukit Kemuning, Kampar Regency. The learning participation is very important because the process of learning activities requires both physical and mental elements as a form of creation. The teaching method implemented by the teacher so far is the lecture method, so that the students tend to accept what is conveyed by the teacher and they are less independent in the learning process and the learning atmosphere tends to be passive. To overcome this problem, it is necessary to implement learning methods that are able to stimulate students’ participation and directly involve the students actively in learning. One solution suggested to overcome this problem is by implementing the question and answer method. The problem formulations of the study are: 1. How is the students’ participation at MTs Nurul Islam Bukit Kemuning, Kampar Regency, in learning Fiqh after implementing the question and answer method? 2. Is the implementation of the question and answer method able to increase the students’ participation in learning Fiqh at MTs Nurul Islam Bukit Kemuning Kampar Regency?. This study is Classroom Action Research (CAR) with 2 (two) cycles, which each cycle consists of 4 (four) stages, namely planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. Based on the analysis of the data results, it is known that the students’ learning participation before implementing the question and answer method was in a moderate category, namely 52%. After implementing the question and answer method in cycle I, the students’ participation increased to 64% with a high category. Then, the cycle II was carried out in which the students’ learning participation increased significantly, namely 80% with a very high category. In conclusion, the implementation of question and answer method can increase students’ participation in learning Fiqh of the lesson material “food and drink that is halal and haram” in grade VIII at MTs Nurul Islam Bukit Kemuning, Kampar Regency.
