Abstract

The background of the problem in this study is the low ability of students to memorize the Quran so that it requires serious treatment. Lack of the Quran memorizing ability affects the low deposit quality, the low enthusiasm, and the low ability to maintain muraja'ah in memorizing the Quran which really needs motivation. Therefore, the study aims to investigate the efforts of tahfidz teachers in improving students’ ability to memorize the Quran at the Islamic boarding school of Tahfidz Yanbu'ul Qur'an. The type of the study is qualitative with a case study approach. The results of the study show that the efforts of tahfidz teachers in improving the Quran memorizing ability at the Islamic boarding school of Tahfidz Yanbu'ul Qur'an have 2 dimensions: 1) The teachers seek to instill in students to be sincere, build a love of the Qur'an, build and create a comfortable atmosphere and choose the right time to conduct the student memorization deposits. 2) The teachers pay attention to the rules of recitation, teach the rhythm of the Quran and hold the Quran Tahfidz competitions as a form of motivation for students.
