Abstract

This research was motivated by the problem of emotional quotient that was happened to some students’ class X at senior high school 6 Pekanbaru. There were some problem such as some of them were difficult in handling emotion and impolite attitude, they were lack of honor to teacher and older people, they were lack of empathy and they just follow individualism, they were lack of ability in communication with other people and so on. The purpose in this research examined to know the level of reciting Al-Qur’an intensity on students’ class X emotional quotient at senior high school 6 Pekanbaru. This research was quantitative with correlational approach. This sampling took 163 students. Data collection technique used questionnaire and documentation. This research consisted of two variables, X (reciting Al-Qur’an intensity) and Y (emotional quotient). This research finding was known that reciting Al-Qur’an intensity level was in 80.6% and emotional quotient level was in 93.1%. From hypothesis testing, it showed score 0.00 < 0.05 that meant hypothesis was accepted and there was any influence of reciting Al-Qur’an intensity on students’ class X emotional quotient at senior high school 6 Pekanbaru. The influence score could be seen from summary table that emotional quotient was influenced by reciting Al-Qur’an intensity in 27.2% with low category. It could be concluded from research finding that there was any influence of reciting Al-Qur’an intensity on students’ class emotional quotient at senior high school 6 Pekanbaru. Furthermore, it was very important to improve reciting Al-Qur’an intensity to improve emotional quotient.
