Abstract

This research has been conducted at the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Riau Islamic University. This research was conducted for 4 months from December 2023 to March 2024. The study aims to determine the interaction and main effect of GA3 concentration and GA3 soaking time on production in bitter melon (Momordica charantia L.) plants. This study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 2 factors and 3 replications, the first factor is the GA3 concentration (G) consisting of 4 treatment levels, namely 0, 100, 200, and 300 ppm, and the second factor is the GA3 soaking time consisting of 4 treatment levels, namely 2, 4, 6, and 8 hours. The parameters observed were flowering age, flower bloom age, harvest age, number of fruits per plot, fruit weight per plot, fruit diameter, fruit length, number of seeds, seed weight, remaining fruit. Observation data were analyzed statistically and carried out with a further test of Honestly Significant Difference (HSD) at the 5% level. The results of the study concluded that the effect of the interaction of GA3 concentration and soaking time had a significant effect on flowering age, flower bloom age, harvest age, number of fruits per plot, fruit weight per plot, fruit diameter, fruit length, number of seeds per fruit, seed weight per fruit and number of remaining fruit. The best treatment was GA3 concentration of 300 ppm and GA3 soaking time of 8 hours. The effect of GA3 concentration was significant on all observation parameters with the best treatment being GA3 concentration of 300 ppm.
