Abstract
This research aims to determine the effect of refugia border plants on controlling Spodoptera exigua and Liriomyza Chinensis pests as well as onion crop yields. This research was carried out at the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Islamic University of Riau, Jalan Kaharuddin Nasution KM 11 No. 113 Air Winter Village, Bukit Raya District, Pekanbaru City for 4 months, namely from October 2023 to January 2024. This research used a Randomized Group Design (RAK) where there were 5 treatments, each treatment was repeated 5 times. The number of experimental plots was 25. In one experimental plot there were 4 plants. The parameters observed were the number of pests, intensity of pest attacks, percentage of pest attacks, harvest age, number of tubers per hill, wet weight of tubers per hill, dry weight of tubers per hill, weight loss of tubers. The observation data was analyzed statistically and carried out with a further Honest Significant Difference (BNJ) test at the 5% level. The results of the research show that the effect of Refugia Border Plants on the control of Spodoptera exigua and Liriomyza chinensis pests and the yield of red onions (Allium ascalonicum L.) is significant on the parameters of pest attack intensity, percentage of pest attacks, harvest age, wet weight of tubers per hill, dry weight tubers per hill. Of the various treatments used, R1 (Cosmos caudatus) was the best treatment.
