Abstract

The writing of this thesis is motivated by the provisions of human beings as legal subjects (rechtssuyect/subyectum juris) who have rights and obligations, the enactment of human beings as holders of rights and obligations begins when humans are born and ends when humans die, one of the rights and obligations in family law is the rights and obligations of alimentation, Alimentation according to Article 46 of Law Number 1 of 1974 concerning Marriage is a reciprocal relationship Children with parents who are not only concerned with provision but also regarding the maintenance of elderly parents, the current problem that occurs every year is increasing the number of elderly parents who are abandoned by their children. Based on the background of the problem, the main problems that will be answered are Regarding legal protection for parents and factors that cause parents to be abandoned: A case study of the social service UPT tresna werdha husnul khotimah city of Pekanbaru. This type of research For this research, the author uses a type of sociological legal research, (Observational Research), namely by going into the field to obtain a number of data, while the data collection technique used by the author is using observation, interview and documentation techniques. Meanwhile, the method of drawing conclusions used by the author in this study is the deductive method, which is to draw conclusions from general to special. The conclusion of this thesis research was obtained that the fulfillment of legal and social protection for the abandoned elderly in the city of Pekanbaru under the auspices of the social service has been fulfilled well and one of the factors for the abandonment of the elderly is due to the economy and domestic violence.
